Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 76: Lord Rāma Strings Lord Viṣṇu’s bow
Text 1.76.6

ब्राह्मणोऽसीति पूज्यो मे विश्वामित्रकृतेन च।
तस्माच्छक्तो न ते राम मोक्तुं प्राणहरं शरम्॥

brāhmaṇo’sīti pūjyo me viśvāmitra-kṛtena ca
tasmāc
chakto na te rāma moktuṁ prāṇa-haraṁ śaram

brāhmaṇaḥ asi = you are a brāhmaṇa; iti = because; pūjyaḥ me = you are worshipable to Me; viśvāmitra-kṛtena = because of Viśvāmitra’s affection for you; ca = and; tasmāt = so; śaktaḥ na = I cannot; te = your; rāma = O Rāma; moktum = release; prāṇa-haram = that can take away life; śaram = this arrow.

Because you are a brāhmaṇa and because of Viśvāmitra’s affection for you, you are worshipable to Me. So, O Rāma, I cannot release this arrow that can take away your life.

Viśvāmitra’s sister was Satyavatī. Jamadagni was born to Satyavatī from Ṛcīka, and Paraśurāma was Jamadagni’s son. Therefore, [Lord Rāma considered that Paraśurāma was worshipable to Him] because of Paraśurāma’s relationship with Viśvāmitra.1

1 From this we can learn that we should be sensitive in our dealings with anyone dear to our spiritual masters and teachers.
