Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 77: The Newly-wed Couples Reach Ayodhyā
Text 1.77.12

कौसल्या च सुमित्रा च कैकेयी च सुमध्यमा।
वधूप्रतिग्रहे युक्ता याश्चान्या राजयोषितः॥

kausalyā ca sumitrā ca kaikeyī ca sumadhyamā
vadhū-pratigrahe
yuktā yāś cānyā rāja-yoṣitaḥ

kausalyā ca = Kausalyā; sumitrā ca = Sumitrā; kaikeyī ca = Kaikeyī; sumadhyamā = slender-waisted; vadhū-pratigrahe = in ceremoniously receiving their daughters-in-law into their respective quarters; yuktāḥ = were engaged; yāḥ ca anyāḥ rāja-yoṣitaḥ = as well as other royal ladies.

Kausalyā, Sumitrā, slender-waisted Kaikeyī as well as other royal ladies were engaged in ceremoniously receiving their daughters-in-law into their respective quarters.

Here vadhū refers to “daughters-in-law” according to Amara-kośa: vadhūr jāyā snuṣā. Yuktāḥ indicates that the mothers-in-law were attached to [their daughters-in-law and received them into their respective homes].
