Chapter 8: Daśaratha Decides to Perform the Aśvamedha Sacrifice

ततः प्रीतोऽभवद्राजा श्रुत्वैतद्द्विजभाषितम्।
अमात्यांश्चाब्रवीद्राजा हर्षपर्याकुलेक्षणः॥
tataḥ prīto ’bhavad rājā śrutvaitad dvija-bhāṣitam
amātyāṁś cābravīd rājā harṣa-paryākulekṣaṇaḥ
tataḥ prītaḥ = pleased; abhavat = became; rājā = the king; śrutvā = hearing; etat = the words; dvija-bhāṣitam = of the twice-born; amātyān ca = his ministers; abravīt = told as follows; rājā = the king; harṣa-paryākula-īkṣaṇaḥ = with eyes brimming with joy.
Hearing the words of the twiceborn, the king became pleased. With eyes brimming with joy, the king told his ministers as follows.
