इदं धर्मार्थसहितं वाक्यं श्लक्ष्णमथाब्रवीत्॥

tān pūjayitvā dharmātmā rājā daśarathas tadā
idaṁ dharmārtha-sahitaṁ vākyaṁ ślakṣṇam athābravīt

tān = them; pūjayitvā = worshipped; dharma-ātmā = of dhārmika nature; rājā = king; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; tadā = after his gurus reached his palace; idam = the following; dharma-artha-sahitam = in accordance with dharma and artha; vākyam = words; ślakṣṇam = sweet; atha = then; abravīt = spoke.

After his gurus reached his palace, King Daśaratha of dhārmika nature worshipped them and then spoke the following sweet words in accordance with dharma and artha.1

1 The words were not merely in accordance with artha—desire for a son—rather, it was in line with both dharma and artha.
