Chapter 9: Conversation Between Sumantra and Daśaratha
Text 1.9.12
आनय्य च महीपाल ऋश्यशृङ्गं सुसत्कृतम्।
प्रयच्छ कन्यां शान्तां वै विधिना सुसमाहितः॥
ānayya ca mahī-pāla ṛśyaśṛṅgaṁ susatkṛtam
prayaccha kanyāṁ śāntāṁ vai vidhinā susamāhitaḥ
ānayya ca = bring; mahī-pāla = O king; ṛśyaśṛṅgam = Ṛśyaśṛṅga; susatkṛtam = very respectfully; prayaccha = without any further consideration, give; kanyām = your daughter; śāntām vai = Śāntā [in marriage to Ṛśyaśṛṅga]; vidhinā = according to the scriptural injunctions; susamāhitaḥ = with full attention.
O king, very respectfully bring Ṛśyaśṛṅga. Without any further consideration, give your daughter Śāntā [in marriage to Ṛśyaśṛṅga] according to the scriptural injunctions, with full attention.
Susamāhitaḥ (“with full attention”) indicates that the king should not be [mentally] affected [by having to give his daughter in marriage to Ṛśyaśṛṅga].
