Chapter 9: Conversation Between Sumantra and Daśaratha
Text 1.9.17
एवमङ्गाधिपेनैव गणिकाभिरृषेः सुतः।
आनीतोऽवर्षयद्देवः शान्ता चास्मै प्रदीयते॥
evam aṅgādhipenaiva gaṇikābhir ṛṣeḥ sutaḥ
ānīto ’varṣayad devaḥ śāntā cāsmai pradīyate
evam = in this manner; aṅga-adhipena eva = the king of Aṅga; gaṇikābhiḥ = courtesans; ṛṣeḥ = Vibhaṇḍaka Ṛṣi’s; sutaḥ = son; ānītaḥ = bring; avarṣayat = poured down rain; devaḥ = the clouds; śāntā = Śāntā; ca = and; asmai = to Ṛśyaśṛṅga; pradīyate = was given marriage.
In this manner, the king of Aṅga had courtesans bring Vibhaṇḍaka Ṛṣi’s son. The clouds poured down rain, and Śāntā was given to Ṛśyaśṛṅga in marriage.
Having concluded relating what Sanat-kumāra had said, Sumantra stated this. The ministers had Ṛśyaśṛṅga brought the way they had promised the king.
