Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.7
तमुवाच ततः सूतो राजा त्वां द्रष्टुमिच्छति।
श्रुत्वा प्रमाणमत्र त्वं गमनायेतराय वा॥
tam uvāca tataḥ sūto rājā tvāṁ draṣṭum icchati
śrutvā pramāṇam atra tvaṁ gamanāyetarāya vā
tam = Him; uvāca = told; tataḥ sūtaḥ = the charioteer; rājā = the king; tvām = You; draṣṭum = to see; icchati = wants; śrutvā = upon hearing Rāma’s words; pramāṇam atra tvam = You have to decide whether; gamanāya = to go to him; itarāya = not; vā = or.
Upon hearing Rāma’s words, the charioteer told Him, “The king wants to see You. You have to decide whether to go to him or not.”
