Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.19
प्रायेण हि निमित्तानामीदृशानां समुद्भवे।
राजा हि मृत्युमाप्नोति घोरां वापदमृच्छति॥
prāyeṇa hi nimittānām īdṛśānāṁ samudbhave
rājā hi mṛtyum āpnoti ghorāṁ vāpadam ṛcchati
prāyeṇa hi = generally; nimittānām = omens; īdṛśānām = such; samudbhave = when arise; rājā = the king; hi mṛtyum āpnoti = dies; ghorām = a terrible; vā = or; āpadam = crisis; ṛcchati = faces.
Generally, when such omens arise, the king dies or faces a terrible crisis.
These are the evil consequences [indicated by the astrologers].
