Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.35
अम्ब पित्रा नियुक्तोऽस्मि प्रजापालनकर्मणि।
भविता श्वोऽभिषेको मे यथा मे शासनं पितुः॥
amba pitrā niyukto ’smi prajā-pālana-karmaṇi
bhavitā śvo ’bhiṣeko me yathā me śāsanaṁ pituḥ
amba = Mother; pitrā = father; niyuktaḥ = has appointed; asmi = Me; prajā-pālana-karmaṇi = to perform the duty of maintaining the citizens; bhavitā = will take place; śvaḥ = tomorrow; abhiṣekaḥ = coronation; me = My; yathā = as per; me = My; śāsanam = order; pituḥ = father’s.
Mother, father has appointed Me to perform the duty of maintaining the citizens. As per My father’s order, My coronation will take place tomorrow.
