Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.34
तथा सन्नियमामेव सोऽभिगम्याभिवाद्य च।
उवाच वचनं रामो हर्षयंस्तामिदं तदा॥
tathā san-niyamām eva so ’bhigamyābhivādya ca
uvāca vacanaṁ rāmo harṣayaṁs tām idaṁ tadā
tathā = thus; sat-niyamām eva = Kausalyā who was engaged in proper regulations; saḥ = He; abhigamya = approached and; abhivādya ca = and offered her His respectful obeisances; uvāca = spoke; vacanam = words; rāmaḥ = Rāma; harṣayan = that delighted her; tām = to her; idam = the following; tadā = then.
Rāma approached Kausalyā who was thus engaged in proper regulations and offered her His respectful obeisances. He then spoke the following words to her that delighted her.
