Chapter 6: The Residents of Kosala Prepare to Celebrate Rāma’s Coronation

तुष्टाव प्रणतश्चैव शिरसा मधुसूदनम्।
विमलक्षौमसंवीतो वाचयामास च द्विजान्॥
tuṣṭāva praṇataś caiva śirasā madhusūdanam
vimala-kṣauma-saṁvīto vācayām āsa ca dvijān
tuṣṭāva = glorified Him; praṇataḥ = He offered His respectful obeisances; ca eva = and; śirasā = with His head; madhusūdanam = to Lord Madhusūdana; vimala-kṣauma-saṁvītaḥ = clothed in spotless silk garments; vācayām āsa ca = He had recite the svasti-vācana mantras; dvijān = the twice-born.
He offered His respectful obeisances with His head to Lord Madhusūdana and glorified Him. Clothed in spotless silk garments, He had the twice-born recite the svasti-vācana mantras.
After chanting the Gayatrī mantra at dawn, He glorified Lord Madhusūdana who resides in [the heart of] the sun through the Sūrya-upasthāna hymns beginning with the words mitrasya [carṣaṇī]. He offered His respectful obeisances with His head to Lord Madhusūdana, that is, He offered obeisances unto Lord Madhusūdana by falling [on the ground] like a stick. He [then] wore spotless silk garments, that is, new clothes, which is considered to be a secondary form of bathing.
