अलङ्कारं पुरस्यैवं कृत्वा तत्पुरवासिनः।
आकाङ्क्षमाणा रामस्य यौवराज्याभिषेचनम्॥
समेत्य सङ्घशः सर्वे चत्वरेषु सभासु च।
कथयन्तो मिथस्तत्र प्रशंशुर्जनाधिपम्॥

ākāṅkṣamāṇā rāmasya yauvarājyābhiṣecanam
sametya saṅghaśaḥ sarve catvareṣu sabhāsu ca
kathayanto mithas tatra praśaṁśur janādhipam
alaṅkāram = decorated; purasya = the city; evam = thus; kṛtvā = having; tat-pura-vāsinaḥ = the residents of the city; ākāṅkṣamāṇāḥ = hankering; rāmasya = Rāma’s; yauvarājya-abhiṣecanam = for coronation as the crown prince; sametya = assembled; saṅghaśaḥ = in groups; sarve = all; catvareṣu = at the crossways; sabhāsu = halls; ca = and; kathayantaḥ = while talking; mithaḥ = to each other; tatra = there; praśaṁśuḥ = they praised; jana-adhipam = the king.
Having decorated the city thus, all the residents of the city, hankering for Rāma’s coronation as the crown prince, assembled in groups at the crossways and halls. While talking to each other there, they praised the king.
