Chapter 7: Mantharā Instructs Kaikeyī to Stop the Coronation
Text 2.7.14
उत्तिष्ठ मूढे किं शेषे भयं त्वामभिवर्तते।
उपप्लुतमघौघेन किमात्मानं न बुध्यसे॥
uttiṣṭha mūḍhe kiṁ śeṣe bhayaṁ tvām abhivartate
upaplutam aghaughena kim ātmānaṁ na budhyase
uttiṣṭha = get up; mūḍhe = foolish woman; kim = why; śeṣe = are you sleeping [now]; bhayam = a danger; tvām = you; abhivartate = is approaching; upaplutam = are afflicted; agha-oghena = by a host of distressing events 5; kim1 ātmānam = that you; na budhyase = can’t you understand.

Foolish woman, get up! Why are you sleeping [now]? A danger is approaching you. Can’t you understand that you are afflicted by a host of distressing events?
