Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 8: The Conversation Between Kaikeyī and Mantharā
Text 2.8.2

हर्षं किमिदमस्थाने कृतवत्यसि बालिशे।
शोकसागरमध्यस्थमात्मानं नावबुध्यसे॥

harṣaṁ kim idam asthāne kṛtavaty asi bāliśe
śoka-sāgara-madhyastham ātmānaṁ nāvabudhyase

harṣam = delighted; kim = what; idam = is this; asthāne = at the wrong time; kṛtavatī asi = you have become; bāliśe = ignorant lady; śoka-sāgara-madhyastham = are in the middle of an ocean of sorrow; ātmānam = that you; na avabudhyase = you don’t understand.

Ignorant lady, what is this? You have become delighted at the wrong time. You don’t understand that you are in the middle of an ocean of sorrow.

Mantharā did not know why Kaikeyī was delighted at an inappropriate time. According to Mantharā, it was inappropriate for Kaikeyī to be delighted then because she was in the middle of an ocean of sorrow.
