Chapter 8: The Conversation Between Kaikeyī and Mantharā
Text 2.8.15
bhrātṝn bhṛtyāṁś ca dīrghāyuḥ pitṛvat pālayiṣyati
santapyase kathaṁ kubje śrutvā rāmābhiṣecanam
bhrātṝn = His brothers; bhṛtyān = dependants; ca = and; dīrgha-āyuḥ = with a long life; pitṛvat = and like His father; pālayiṣyati = Rāma will protect; santapyase = you are afflicted; katham = how is it that; kubje = O hunchback; śrutvā = upon hearing; rāma-abhiṣecanam = about Rāma’s coronation.
With a long life and like His father, Rāma will protect His brothers and dependants. O hunchback, how is it that you are afflicted upon hearing about Rāma’s coronation?
Kaikeyī now sets aside Mantharā’s apprehensions regarding Bharata.
