Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 8: The Conversation Between Kaikeyī and Mantharā
Text 2.8.16

भरतश्चापि रामस्य ध्रुवं वर्षशतात्परम्।
पितृपैतामहं राज्यमवाप्ता पुरुषर्षभः॥

bharataś cāpi rāmasya dhruvaṁ varṣa-śatāt param
pitṛ-paitāmahaṁ rājyam avāptā puruṣarṣabhaḥ

bharataḥ ca api = Bharata; rāmasya = Rāma’s; dhruvam = certainly; varṣa-śatāt = Rāma rules it for a hundred years; param = after; pitṛ-paitāmaham = that belonged to Their father and grandfather; rājyam = kingdom; avāptā = will attain; puruṣa-ṛṣabhaḥ = Prince.

Prince Bharata will certainly attain Rāma’s kingdom that belonged to Their father and grandfather after Rāma rules it for a hundred years.

Kaikeyī now states that Bharata would then sequentially attain the kingdom.

It should be understood that Kaikeyī does not know that Rāma will rule for 10,000 years. Therefore, she mentions “after Rāma rules it for a hundred years” following popular customs. In other words, Rāma would make Bharata the crown prince to rule the kingdom after Him.
