Chapter 8: The Conversation Between Kaikeyī and Mantharā
Text 2.8.38

यदा हि रामः पृथिवीमवाप्स्यति प्रभूतरत्नाकरशैलपत्तनाम्।
तदा गमिष्यस्यशुभं पराभवं सहैव दीना भरतेन भामिनि॥

yadā hi rāmaḥ pṛthivīm avāpsyati
prabhūta-ratnākara-śaila-pattanām
tadā gamiṣyasy aśubhaṁ parābhavaṁ
sahaiva dīnā bharatena bhāmini

yadā = when; hi = only; rāmaḥ = Rāma; pṛthivīm = the earth; avāpsyati = gets; prabhūta-ratna-ākara-śaila-pattanām = with its abundant mines of jewels, mountains and towns; tadā gamiṣyasi = will you attain; aśubham = an inauspicious; parābhavam = defeat; saha eva = and; dīnā = become wretched and; bharatena = Bharata; bhāmini = O beautiful lady.

O beautiful lady, only when Rāma gets the earth with its abundant mines of jewels, mountains and towns will you and Bharata become wretched and attain an inauspicious defeat.
