Chapter 9: Kaikeyī Convinced by Mantharā
Text 2.9.23
मा स्मैनं प्रत्युदीक्षेथा मा चैनमभिभाषथाः।
रुदन्ती चापि तं दृष्ट्वा जगत्यां शोकलालसा॥
mā smainaṁ pratyudīkṣethā mā cainam abhibhāṣathāḥ
rudantī cāpi taṁ dṛṣṭvā jagatyāṁ śoka-lālasā
mā sma = do not; enam = him; pratyudīkṣethāḥ = glance at; mā = do not; ca = and; enam = to him; abhibhāṣathāḥ = talk; rudantī ca api = while crying; tam = him; dṛṣṭvā = after noticing; jagatyām = lie on the floor; śoka-lālasā = in anguish.
After noticing him, do not glance at him and do not talk to him. Lie on the floor while crying in anguish.
If Kaikeyī were to do so, she will at once attain her goal. Mantharā states this in the next text.
