Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.47
अहं हि विषमद्यैव पीत्वा बहु तवाग्रतः।
पश्यतस्ते मरिष्यामि रामो यद्यभिषिच्यते॥
ahaṁ hi viṣam adyaiva pītvā bahu tavāgrataḥ
paśyatas te mariṣyāmi rāmo yady abhiṣicyate
aham = I; hi = certainly; viṣam = of poison; adya eva = right now; pītvā = will drink; bahu = a lot; tava = of you; agrataḥ = in front; paśyataḥ = while watch [me]; te = you; mariṣyāmi = and kill myself; rāmaḥ = Rāma; yadi = if; abhiṣicyate = is coronated.
I will certainly drink a lot of poison right now in front of you while you watch [me] and kill myself if Rāma is coronated.
