Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.49
भरतेनात्मना चाहं शपे ते मनुजाधिप।
यथा नान्येन तुष्येयमृते रामविवासनात्॥
bharatenātmanā cāhaṁ śape te manujādhipa
yathā nānyena tuṣyeyam ṛte rāma-vivāsanāt
bharatena = on Bharata; ātmanā = myself; ca = and; aham = I; śape = promise; te = you; manuja-adhipa = O king; yathā = that; na = not; anyena = with anything; tuṣyeyam = I will be satisfied; ṛte = other; rāma-vivāsanāt = than Rāma’s exile.
O king, I promise you on Bharata and myself that I will not be satisfied with anything other than Rāma’s exile.
