Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.65

किं मां वक्ष्यन्ति राजानो नानादिग्भ्यः समागताः।
बालो बतायमैक्ष्वाकश्चिरं राज्यमकारयत्॥

kiṁ māṁ vakṣyanti rājāno nānā-digbhyaḥ samāgatāḥ
bālo batāyam aikṣvākaś ciraṁ rājyam akārayat

kim = has; mām = me; vakṣyanti = will ask; rājānaḥ = the kings; nānā-digbhyaḥ = from various lands; samāgatāḥ = who have assembled; bālaḥ = boy; bata = alas; ayam = this; aikṣvākaḥ = Rāma, the descendant of Ikṣvāku; ciram = for good; rājyam = the kingdom; akārayat = taken charge of.

Alas, the kings who have assembled from various lands will ask me, “Has this boy Rāma, the descendant of Ikṣvāku, taken charge of the kingdom for good?”

This verse can also mean, “The kings who have assembled from various lands will talk about me, ‘Alas, this ignorant child Daśaratha has accidentally, by providence, managed to rule his kingdom for so long. How did he do it?’”
