इतीव राज्ञो व्यथितस्य सा निशा जगाम घोरं श्वसतो मनस्विनः।
विबोध्यमानः प्रतिबोधनं तदा निवारयामास स राजसत्तमः॥

nivārayām āsa sa rāja-sattamaḥ
iti iva = thus; rājñaḥ = King Daśaratha; vyathitasya = in distress; sā = the; niśā = night; jagāma = passed; ghoram = terribly; śvasataḥ = who was sighing; manasvinaḥ = for the great soul; vibodhyamānaḥ = while being woken up [in the morning]; pratibodhanam = the attempts to wake him up; tadā nivārayām āsa = restrained; saḥ = the; rāja-sattamaḥ = emperor.
The night thus passed terribly for the great soul King Daśaratha who was sighing in distress. While being woken up [in the morning], the emperor restrained the attempts to wake him up.
The emperor restrained the attempts to wake him up when his vaitālika bards blew conches and played musical instruments such as paṭaha drums and vīṇā.
