Chapter 13: Kaikeyī Rejects Daśaratha’s Sorrowful Plea
Text 2.13.26

ततः स राजा पुनरेव मूर्च्छितः प्रियामतुष्टां प्रतिकूलभाषिणीम्।
समीक्ष्य पुत्रस्य विवासनं प्रति क्षितौ विसंज्ञो निपपात दुःखितः॥

tataḥ sa rājā punar eva mūrcchitaḥ
priyām atuṣṭāṁ pratikūla-bhāṣiṇīm
samīkṣya putrasya vivāsanaṁ prati
kṣitau visaṁjño nipapāta duḥkhitaḥ

tataḥ = then; saḥ = the; rājā = king; punaḥ eva = once again; mūrcchitaḥ = fainted; priyām = his dear wife; atuṣṭām = dissatisfied; pratikūla-bhāṣiṇīm = speaking to him unfavorably; samīkṣya = noticing; putrasya = of his son [was at hand]; vivāsanam = the exile; prati = and that; kṣitau = on the ground; visaṁjñaḥ = lost his consciousness; nipapāta = and fell; duḥkhitaḥ = the distressed Daśaratha.

Then, the king fainted once again. Noticing his dear wife dissatisfied, speaking to him unfavorably [and that] the exile of his son [was at hand], the distressed Daśaratha lost his consciousness and fell on the ground.
