Chapter 15: Daśaratha Personally Instructs Sumantra to Bring Rāma
Text 2.15.13-14

इक्ष्वाकूणां यथा राज्ये सम्भ्रियेताभिषेचनम्।
तथाजातीयमादाय राजपुत्राभिषेचनम्॥

ते राजवचनात्तत्र समवेता महीपतिम्।
अपश्यन्तोऽब्रुवन्को नु राज्ञो नः प्रतिवेदयेत्॥

ikṣvākūṇāṁ yathā rājye sambhriyetābhiṣecanam
tathā-jātīyam ādāya rāja-putrābhiṣecanam

te rāja-vacanāt tatra samavetā mahī-patim
apaśyanto ’bruvan ko nu rājño naḥ prativedayet

ikṣvākūṇām yathā = of kings of the Ikṣvāku dynasty; rājye1 sambhriyeta = was required; abhiṣecanam = for the coronation; tathā-jātīyam = whatever; ādāya = had brought; rāja-putra-abhiṣecanam = for Prince Rāma’s coronation; te = the kings; rāja-vacanāt = because of King Daśaratha’s announcement; tatra = there; samavetāḥ = who had assembled; mahī-patim = the king; apaśyantaḥ = but not seeing; abruvan = they asked; kaḥ nu = who; rājñaḥ = the king; naḥ = of our [arrival]; prativedayet = will inform.

For Prince Rāma’s coronation, the kings who had assembled there because of King Daśaratha’s announcement had brought whatever was required for the coronation of kings of the Ikṣvāku dynasty. But not seeing the king, they asked, “Who will inform the king of our [arrival]?

The kings brought valuable jewels for Rāma’s coronation. They had assembled at the gate of the king’s residence.
