हृष्टः प्रमुदितः सूतो जगामाशु विलोकयन्॥

prapanno rāja-mārgaṁ ca patākā-dhvaja-śobhitam
hṛṣṭaḥ pramuditaḥ sūto jagāmāśu vilokayan

prapannaḥ = having reached; rāja-mārgam = the grand road; ca = and; patākā-dhvaja-śobhitam = that it was beautiful with painted and unpainted flags; hṛṣṭaḥ = became delighted; pramuditaḥ = happy; sūtaḥ = the sūta Sumantra; jagāma = and went [to meet Rāma]; āśu = quickly; vilokayan = on seeing.

Having reached the grand road, the sūta Sumantra became delighted and happy on seeing that it was beautiful with painted and unpainted flags and quickly went [to meet Rāma].

He was delighted, that is, his hair stood on end [in ecstasy] and he was happy in his mind.
