Chapter 16: Rāma Passes Through the Grand Road to Meet Daśaratha

प्रतिवेदितमाज्ञाय सूतमभ्यन्तरं पितुः।
तत्रैवानाययामास राघवप्रियकाम्यया।।
prativeditam ājñāya sūtam abhyantaraṁ pituḥ
tatraivānāyayām āsa rāghava-priya-kāmyayā
prativeditam ājñāya = upon being informed that; sūtam = and charioteer [had arrived]; abhyantaram = confidant; pituḥ = His father’s; tatra eva = to where He was; ānāyayām āsa = Rāma had him brought; rāghava-priya-kāmyayā = desiring to please Daśaratha, the descendant of Raghu.
Upon being informed that His father’s confidant and charioteer [had arrived], Rāma had him brought to where He was, desiring to please Daśaratha, the descendant of Raghu.
When the gatekeepers informed Rāma that Sumantra, His father’s confidant, [had arrived], He had him brought to where He was with Sītā.
