Chapter 18: Kaikeyī Informs Rāma About the two Boons
Text 2.18.12
अप्रसन्नमनाः किं नु सदा मां प्रति वत्सलः।
विवर्णवदनो दीनो न हि मामभिभाषते॥
aprasanna-manāḥ kiṁ nu sadā māṁ prati vatsalaḥ
vivarṇa-vadano dīno na hi mām abhibhāṣate
aprasanna-manāḥ = with an unhappy mind; kim nu = what is this; sadā = he was always; mām = me; prati = to; vatsalaḥ = affectionate; vivarṇa-vadanaḥ = and discolored face; dīnaḥ = he is now morose; na hi = not; mām = to me; abhibhāṣate = and he is talking.
He was always affectionate to Me. He is now morose with an unhappy mind and discolored face. And he is not talking to me. What is this?
