Chapter 19: Rāma Promises to Leave for the Forest
Text 2.19.4
मन्युर्न च त्वया कार्यो देवि ब्रूमि तवाग्रतः।
यास्यामि भव सुप्रीता वनं चीरजटाधरः॥
manyur na ca tvayā kāryo devi brūmi tavāgrataḥ
yāsyāmi bhava suprītā vanaṁ cīra-jaṭādharaḥ
manyuḥ = miserable 1; na ca = not; tvayā = you; kāryaḥ = should be; devi = O queen; brūmi = I tell this; tava = of you; agrataḥ = in front; yāsyāmi = I will go; bhava = be; suprītā = very happy; vanam = to the forest; cīra-jaṭādharaḥ = wearing bark and with matted hair.
O queen, you should not be miserable. I tell this in front of you: I will go to the forest wearing bark and with matted hair. Be very happy!
