Chapter 19: Rāma Promises to Leave for the Forest
Text 2.19.5
हितेन गुरुणा पित्रा कृतज्ञेन नृपेण च।
नियुज्यमानो विस्रब्धः किं न कुर्यामहं प्रियम्॥
hitena guruṇā pitrā kṛtajñena nṛpeṇa ca
niyujyamāno visrabdhaḥ kiṁ na kuryām ahaṁ priyam
hitena = by My well-wishing; guruṇā = guru; pitrā = father; kṛtajñena = and grateful; nṛpeṇa = king; ca = and; niyujyamānaḥ = engaged; visrabdhaḥ = trusted; kim = what; na = not; kuryām = will do; aham = I; priyam = to please him.
Trusted and engaged by My well-wishing guru, father and grateful king, what will I not do to please him?
Guruṇā indicates that Rāma had accepted specific mantras from Daśaratha. Daśaratha was grateful for he remembered and decided to bestow the boons he had promised [Kaikeyī].
