Chapter 19: Rāma Promises to Leave for the Forest
Text 2.19.8
किं पुनर्मनुजेन्द्रेण स्वयं पित्रा प्रचोदितः।
तव च प्रियकामार्थं प्रतिज्ञामनुपालयन्॥
kiṁ punar manujendreṇa svayaṁ pitrā pracoditaḥ
tava ca priya-kāmārthaṁ pratijñām anupālayan
kim punaḥ = how much more would I give [to Bharata]; manuja-indreṇa = by the king; svayam = personally; pitrā = My father; pracoditaḥ = upon being instructed; tava ca = your; priya-kāma-artham = to fulfill cherished desires; pratijñām = a promise; anupālayan = to fulfill.
How much more would I give [to Bharata] upon being personally instructed by the king, My father, to fulfill a promise to fulfill your cherished desires?
