Text 2.21.2
न रोचते ममाप्येतदार्ये यद्राघवो वनम्।
त्यक्त्वा राज्यश्रियं गच्छेत्स्त्रिया वाक्यवशं गतः।।
na rocate mamāpy etad ārye yad rāghavo vanam
tyaktvā rājya-śriyaṁ gacchet striyā vākya-vaśaṁ gataḥ
na rocate mama = I am displeased; api = also; etat1 ārye = noble lady; yat = that; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; vanam = to the forest; tyaktvā = should give up and; rājya-śriyam = the prosperity of the kingdom; gacchet = go; striyāḥ = of a woman; vākya-vaśam gataḥ = on the order.
Noble lady, I am also displeased that Rāghava should give up the prosperity of the kingdom and go to the forest on the order of a woman.
1 Technical note: etat mama api na rocate.
The woman referred to is Kaikeyī.
Lakṣmaṇa then anticipated that Śrī Rāma might say, “I am not going [to the forest] because of Kaikeyī. I am going because of the king.” Therefore, He speaks the next verse.
