Chapter 21: Rāma Consoles Kausalyā and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.21.30
विलपन्तीं तदा दीनां कौसल्यां जननीं ततः।
उवाच रामो धर्मात्मा वचनं धर्मसंहितम्॥
vilapantīṁ tadā dīnāṁ kausalyāṁ jananīṁ tataḥ
uvāca rāmo dharmātmā vacanaṁ dharma-saṁhitam
vilapantīm = who was lamenting; tadā = then; dīnām = in sorrow; kausalyām = Kausalyā; jananīm = to His mother; tataḥ = then; uvāca = spoke; rāmaḥ = Rāma; dharma-ātmā = whose mind was devoted to dharma; vacanam = the following words; dharma-saṁhitam = in accordance with dharma.
Then Rāma whose mind was devoted to dharma spoke the following words in accordance with dharma to His mother Kausalyā who was then lamenting in sorrow.
