Chapter 21: Rāma Consoles Kausalyā and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.21.36
न खल्वेतन्मयैकेन क्रियते पितृशासनम्।
एतैरपि कृतं देवि ये मया तव कीर्तिताः॥
na khalv etan mayaikena kriyate pitṛ-śāsanam
etair api kṛtaṁ devi ye mayā tava kīrtitāḥ
na = not; khalu = certainly; etat = the; mayā ekena kriyate = I am the only one who has obeyed; pitṛ-śāsanam = instructions of one’s father; etaiḥ = these souls; api = also; kṛtam = have done so; devi = O queen; ye = whom; mayā = I; tava = you; kīrtitāḥ = have told about.
I am certainly not the only one who has obeyed the instructions of one’s father. O queen, these souls whom I have told you about have also done so.
