Chapter 23: Lakṣmaṇa’s Arguments
Text 2.23.15
यद्यपि प्रतिपत्तिस्ते दैवी चापि तयोर्मतम्।
तथाप्युपेक्षणीयं ते न मे तदपि रोचते॥
yady api pratipattis te daivī cāpi tayor matam
tathāpy upekṣaṇīyaṁ te na me tad api rocate

tathāpy upekṣaṇīyaṁ te na me tad api rocate
Even if You think that the agreement between Queen Kaikeyī and Our father to cancel Your coronation was due to providence, You should disregard that providence. I am not fond of that providence.
Lakṣmaṇa now repeats Rāma’s previous statement that His exile has been caused by providence and not Kaikeyī in order to refute it. He states why Rāma should disregard providence in the next verse.
