Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.14

एवमुक्ता तु रामेण कौसल्या शुभदर्शना।
तथेत्युवाच सुप्रीता राममक्लिष्टकारिणम्॥

evam uktā tu rāmeṇa kausalyā śubha-darśanā
tathety uvāca suprītā rāmam akliṣṭakāriṇam

evam = thus; uktā tu = spoke; rāmeṇa = when Rāma; kausalyā = Kausalyā; śubha-darśanā = with a dhārmika mentality; tathā iti = “alright”; uvāca = she then said; suprītā = became very pleased; rāmam = with Rāma; akliṣṭakāriṇam = of tireless action.

When Rāma spoke thus, Kausalyā, with a dhārmika mentality, became very pleased with Rāma of tireless action.1 She then said, “Alright.”

1. Śubha-darśanā (“with a dhārmika mentality”) indicates that upon being enlightened about her dharma, her mentality changed and she realized that her service to her husband was auspicious, that is, dhārmika.
