Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.15
एवमुक्तस्तु वचनं रामो धर्मभृतांवरः।
भूयस्तामब्रवीद्वाक्यं मातरं भृशदुःखिताम्॥
evam uktas tu vacanaṁ rāmo dharmabhṛtāṁ varaḥ
bhūyas tām abravīd vākyaṁ mātaraṁ bhṛśa-duḥkhitām
evam = these; uktaḥ tu = when she spoke to Him; vacanam = words; rāmaḥ = Rāma; dharmabhṛtām = of the upholders of dharma; varaḥ = the best; bhūyaḥ = again; tām1 abravīt vākyam = spoke; mātaram = to His mother; bhṛśa-duḥkhitām = who was extremely distressed.
When she spoke these words to Him, Rāma, the best of the upholders of dharma, again spoke to His mother who was extremely distressed.
1 Technical note: tām mātaram.
He spoke to her again in order to reinforce [His point].
