Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.16
मया चैव भवत्या च कर्तव्यं वचनं पितुः।
राजा भर्ता गुरुः श्रेष्ठः सर्वेषामीश्वरः प्रभुः॥
mayā caiva bhavatyā ca kartavyaṁ vacanaṁ pituḥ
rājā bhartā guruḥ śreṣṭhaḥ sarveṣām īśvaraḥ prabhuḥ
mayā ca eva = I; bhavatyā = you; ca = and; kartavyam = should carry out; vacanam = instructions; pituḥ = My father’s; rājā = he is our king; bhartā = your husband; guruḥ = and My guru; śreṣṭhaḥ = and the best; sarveṣām = of all [of us]; īśvaraḥ = he is our lord; prabhuḥ = and master.
I and you should carry out My father’s instructions. He is our king, your husband and My guru. He is our lord and master, and the best of all [of us].
