Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 30: Rāma Allows Sītā to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.30.7

न त्वहं मनसाप्यन्यं द्रष्टास्मि त्वदृतेऽनघ।
त्वया राघव गच्छेयं यथान्या कुलपांसनी॥

na tv ahaṁ manasāpy anyaṁ draṣṭāsmi tvad ṛte ’nagha
tvayā rāghava gaccheyaṁ yathānyā kula-pāṁsanī

na tu = not; aham = I; manasā api = even in my mind; anyam = other; draṣṭā asmi = will see; tvat ṛte = than You; anagha = sinless; tvayā = with You; rāghava = Rāghava; gaccheyam = therefore I will go; yathā = like; anyā = any other woman; kula-pāṁsanī = who defiles her dynasty.

Sinless Rāghava, even in my mind I will not see any man other than You like any other woman who defiles her dynasty. Therefore I will go with You!1

1 This is an instruction to all women of this world who should not desire the association of any man other than their own husbands. And by His own example, Rāma instructs all men to not desire the association of any woman other than their own wives.
