Chapter 30: Rāma Allows Sītā to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.30.10
स मामनादाय वनं न त्वं प्रस्थातुमर्हसि।
तपो वा यदि वारण्यं स्वर्गो वा मे सह त्वया॥
sa mām anādāya vanaṁ na tvaṁ prasthātum arhasi
tapo vā yadi vāraṇyaṁ svargo vā me saha tvayā
saḥ1 mām = Me; anādāya = without taking; vanam = to the forest; na = not; tvam = You; prasthātum = depart; arhasi = should; tapaḥ vā = for performance of austerities; yadi vā = or; araṇyam = residence in the forest; svargaḥ = departure to Svarga; vā = or; me = let me be; saha = with; tvayā = You.
You should not depart to the forest without taking me. Let me be with You for performance of austerities or residence in the forest or departure to Svarga.
