Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 30: Rāma Allows Sītā to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.30.22

इति सा शोकसन्तप्ता विलप्य करुणं बहु।
चुक्रोश पतिमायस्ता भृशमालिङ्ग्य सस्वरम्॥

iti sā śoka-santaptā vilapya karuṇaṁ bahu
cukrośa patim āyastā bhṛśam āliṅgya sasvaram

iti = in this manner; = Sītā-devī; śoka-santaptā = burned in anxiety; vilapya = while lamenting; karuṇam = piteously; bahu = greatly; cukrośa = cried; patim = her husband; āyastā = as she became exhausted; bhṛśam = repeatedly; āliṅgya = she embraced and; sasvaram = and loudly.

While greatly lamenting in this manner, Sītā-devī burned in anxiety. She embraced her husband and cried repeatedly, piteously and loudly as she became exhausted.

She became exhausted—her body slackened. Sasvaram indicates that she cried loudly in a high tone.
