Chapter 30: Rāma Allows Sītā to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.30.26
तां परिष्वज्य बाहुभ्यां विसंज्ञामिव दुःखिताम्।
उवाच वचनं रामः परिविश्वासयंस्तदा॥
tāṁ pariṣvajya bāhubhyāṁ visaṁjñām iva duḥkhitām
uvāca vacanaṁ rāmaḥ pariviśvāsayaṁs tadā
tām = her; pariṣvajya = embraced and; bāhubhyām = with His arms; visaṁjñām = [and] senseless; iva = almost; duḥkhitām = who had become distressed; uvāca = spoke; vacanam = the following words; rāmaḥ = Rāma; pariviśvāsayan = fully assuring [her of His protection]; tadā = then.
Rāma embraced her, who had become distressed and almost senseless, with His arms and then spoke the following words fully assuring [her of His protection].
