Chapter 30: Rāma Allows Sītā to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.30.36
स्वर्गो धनं वा धान्यं वा विद्याः पुत्राः सुखानि च।
गुरुवृत्त्यनुरोधेन न किञ्चिदपि दुर्लभम्॥
svargo dhanaṁ vā dhānyaṁ vā vidyāḥ putrāḥ sukhāni ca
guru-vṛtty-anurodhena na kiñcid api durlabham
svargaḥ = Svarga; dhanam vā = wealth; dhānyam vā = agrarian prosperity; vidyāḥ = knowledge of various sciences; putrāḥ = sons; sukhāni = mundane happiness; ca = and; guru-vṛtti-anurodhena = by attentive service to one’s mother, father and guru 4; na kiñcit api = not at all; durlabham = are difficult to attain.
Svarga, wealth, agrarian prosperity, knowledge of various sciences, sons and mundane happiness are not at all difficult to attain by attentive service to one’s mother, father and guru.
