Chapter 31: Rāma Allows Lakṣmaṇa to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.31.35
अहं प्रदातुमिच्छामि यदिदं मामकं धनम्।
ब्राह्मणेभ्यस्तपस्विभ्यस्त्वया सह परन्तप॥
ahaṁ pradātum icchāmi yad idaṁ māmakaṁ dhanam
brāhmaṇebhyas tapasvibhyas tvayā saha parantapa
aham = I; pradātum = to give; icchāmi = want; yat idam = this; māmakam = of Mine; dhanam = wealth; brāhmaṇebhyaḥ = brāhmaṇas; tapasvibhyaḥ = to the ascetic; tvayā = You; saha = along with; parantapa = O scorcher of opponents.
O scorcher of opponents, along with You, I want to give this wealth of Mine to the ascetic brāhmaṇas.
