Chapter 34: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Meet Daśaratha
Text 2.34.11
सोऽन्तःपुरमतीत्यैव स्त्रियस्ता वाक्यमब्रवीत्।
आर्या हृयति वो राजा गम्यतां तत्र मा चिरम्॥
so ’ntaḥ-puram atītyaiva striyas tā vākyam abravīt
āryā hvayati vo rājā gamyatāṁ tatra mā ciram
saḥ = Sumantra; antaḥ-puram = to the inner quarters of those ladies; atītya eva = quickly went and; striyaḥ tāḥ = to them; vākyam = these words; abravīt = spoke; āryāḥ = noble ladies; hvayati = calls; vaḥ = all of you; rājā = the king; gamyatām = please go; tatra = there; mā ciram = don’t delay.
Sumantra quickly went to the inner quarters of those ladies and spoke these words to them: Noble ladies, the king calls all of you. Please go there. Don’t delay.
