Chapter 34: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Meet Daśaratha
Text 2.34.12
एवमुक्ताः स्त्रियः सर्वाः सुमत्रेण नृपाज्ञया।
प्रचक्रमुस्तद्भवनं भर्तुराज्ञाय शासनम्॥
evam uktāḥ striyaḥ sarvāḥ sumantreṇa nṛpājñayā
pracakramus tad-bhavanaṁ bhartur ājñāya śāsanam
evam = thus; uktāḥ = spoke; striyaḥ = those women; sarvāḥ = all; sumantreṇa = when Sumantra; nṛpa-ājñayā = on the order of the king; pracakramuḥ = proceeded; tat-bhavanam = to the king’s residence; bhartuḥ = their husband’s; ājñāya = understanding this to be; śāsanam = command.
When Sumantra spoke thus on the order of the king, all of those women proceeded to the king’s residence, understanding this to be their husband’s command.
