Chapter 34: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Meet Daśaratha
Text 2.34.31

श्रेयसे वृद्धये तात पुनरागमनाय च।
गच्छस्वारिष्टमव्यग्रः पन्थानमकुतोभयम्॥

śreyase vṛddhaye tāta punar āgamanāya ca
gacchasvāriṣṭam avyagraḥ panthānam akuto-bhayam

śreyase = and in the next; vṛddhaye = to benefit [everyone] in this life; tāta = my child; punar āgamanāya = to return [with glory]; ca = and; gacchasva = please go; ariṣṭam = of auspiciousness 1; avyagraḥ = with a steady mind; panthānam = by the path; akutaḥ-bhayam = and fearlessness.

My child, with a steady mind, please go by the path of auspiciousness and fearlessness to benefit [everyone] in this life and in the next, and to return [with glory].

GLOSS. Śreyase indicates that Rāma should benefit the saints. Vṛddhaye indicates that He should cut down His opponents.
