Chapter 34: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Meet Daśaratha
Text 2.34.40
प्राप्स्यामि यानद्य गुणान्को मे श्वस्तान्प्रदास्यति।
अपक्रमणमेवातः सर्वकामैरहं वृणे॥
prāpsyāmi yān adya guṇān ko me śvas tān pradāsyati
apakramaṇam evātaḥ sarva-kāmair ahaṁ vṛṇe
prāpsyāmi = I get; yān = that; adya = today; guṇān = excellent objects of pleasure; kaḥ = who; me = Me; śvaḥ = tomorrow; tān = those; pradāsyati = will give. apakramaṇam eva = to retire; ataḥ = So; sarva-kāmaiḥ = from all objects of pleasure; aham = I; vṛṇe = choose.
Who will give Me those excellent objects that I get today tomorrow? So, I choose to retire from all objects of pleasure.
