Chapter 36: Kaikeyī Forbids the King from Sending Wealth With Rāma
Text 2.36.18

तत्र वृद्धो महामात्रः सिद्धार्थो नाम नामतः।
शुचिर्बहुमतो राज्ञः कैकेयीमिदमब्रवीत्॥

tatra vṛddho mahā-mātraḥ siddhārtho nāma nāmataḥ
śucir bahu-mato rājñaḥ kaikeyīm idam abravīt

tatra = there; vṛddhaḥ = there was an elderly; mahā-mātraḥ = senior minister; siddhārthaḥ = Siddhārtha; nāma = by the name; nāmataḥ = and famous; śuciḥ = he was pure; bahu-mataḥ = greatly respected; rājñaḥ = to the king; kaikeyīm = to Kaikeyī; idam = the following; abravīt = he spoke.

There was an elderly senior minister to the king there. He was pure, greatly respected and famous by the name Siddhārtha. He spoke the following to Kaikeyī.

Siddhārtha was pure, that is, nonduplicitous.1
