Chapter 37: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Wear Clothes of Bark
Text 2.37.4
तथा मम सतां श्रेष्ठ किं ध्वजिन्या जगत्पते।
सर्वाण्येवानुजानामि चीराण्येवानयन्तु मे।।
tathā mama satāṁ śreṣṭha kiṁ dhvajinyā jagat-pate
sarvāṇy evānujānāmi cīrāṇy evānayantu me
tathā = similarly; mama = for Me; satām = of the saintly; śreṣṭha = O best; kim = what is the use of; dhvajinyā = an army; jagat-pate = and ruler of the world; sarvāṇi eva = everything; anujānāmi = I give to Bharata; cīrāṇi = clothes of bark; eva = only; ānayantu = may the servants bring; me = for Me.
O best of the saintly and ruler of the world, similarly what is the use of an army for Me? I give everything to Bharata. May the servants only bring clothes of bark for Me.
Anujānāmi: Rāma gave everything that Daśaratha was eager to give Him to Bharata. Rāma also knew everything that He needed to do [under the current circumstances].
