Chapter 37: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Wear Clothes of Bark
Text 2.37.22
अतिप्रवृत्ते दुर्मेधे कैकेयि कुलपांसनि।
वञ्चयित्वा च राजानं न प्रमाणेऽवतिष्ठसे॥
atipravṛtte durmedhe kaikeyi kula-pāṁsani
vañcayitvā ca rājānaṁ na pramāṇe ’vatiṣṭhase
atipravṛtte = you have gone too far; durmedhe = foolish; kaikeyi = Kaikeyī; kula-pāṁsani = and a disgrace to your family; vañcayitvā ca = even after cheating; rājānam = the king; na = don’t; pramāṇe = within your limits 4; avatiṣṭhase = you stay.
Foolish Kaikeyī, you have gone too far and are a disgrace to your family. You don’t stay within your limits even after cheating the king.
